William Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" has everything: gossip, sex, clowns, music, even murder. Using additional text from "Measure for Measure" as well as "All's Well That End's Well," this comedy explores the sometimes funny, sometimes dark parts of societal expectations and generational differences, illuminating the ways that love can set us free.
We believe that Shakespeare's plays were created to be timely, funny, and thought-provoking... and while the insurance people have said we can't allow you groundlings to throw tomatoes at us, audience participation and investment in classic theater is a cornerstone to our irreverence. We reject wholeheartedly the idea that Shakespeare should be enjoyed quietly. So come hoot, holler, drink, be merry, and even have the opportunity to submit ad lib lines to our actors!
Much Ado About Nothing will be directed by Xenia Danylyszyn, and performed by Emily Ann Banks, Sophia Carlin, Genevieve Wisdom, Nick Disla, Hraban Luyat, Alexandra Hess, Helen Romeu Coombes, Annie Kefalas, D’Asia Rae Brunson, Maren Dahl, Kseniya Janyan, and Yu Hin Bryan Chan. The creative team includes Sarah Jack, Shea Madison, Ben R.B. Miller, and Sean Coffey.
There will be an additional performance on June 14th at Summit Rock, in Central Park. Find out more at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/much-ado-a-comedy-of-tragical-mirth-tickets-892602507127
