Mozart and Azarashvili at Kaufman music center/Merkin hall

A milestone for Georgian music arrives in New York as cellist Sandro Sidamonidze gives the U.S. premiere of Vazha Azarashvili’s Cello Concerto on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 7:30 PM at Merkin Hall, Kaufman Music Center. Presented by Orchestra For People under Hahnsol Kim, the concert introduces American audiences to one of Georgia’s most significant contemporary voices, music noted for lyricism, clarity, and emotional depth. The evening also features clarinetist Sam Boutris in Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, alongside Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro, offering a vibrant dialogue between Georgian and European masterworks.
