Presented by the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival, BENGAL TO BERLIN is a bold, genre-defying musical performance. The story is poignantly portrayed through the soundscapes of musical theater and Hindustani music in more than 15 songs and choreography in Bengali and Berlin cabaret styles. BENGAL TO BERLIN weaves together science, identity, and resistance in a way that feels especially resonant today. Produced and Written by Hasan Padamsee Thursday, August 7 at 5:00 PM Saturday, August 9 at 8:00 PM Sunday, August 10 at 2:00 PM Tickets range from $30 to $40 and are available at https://broadwayboundtheatrefestival.ludus.com.
Set in the early 20th century, Bengal to Berlin follows the true story of young Indian physicist Satyendra Bose. After his revolutionary quantum theory is dismissed by Western institutions, Bose makes a daring choice: he sends his paper directly to Albert Einstein. Einstein replies—and this unexpected correspondence sparks a journey that takes Bose across a divided, colonial world. Along the way, he meets the formidable Marie Curie in Paris and confronts the racial and academic discrimination that stifled Indian intellect under imperial rule. Ultimately, Bose and Einstein together lay the groundwork for what would become the Bose-Einstein Condensate—changing our understanding of the universe.
