Sponsored by Theatre 4the People and The Jerome Robbins Foundation, Being Alive explores complex stories of love, loss, and resilience in the U.S.A. during the latter half of the 20th century. The life of Larry Kert, from his era-defining talent to his tragic death, unfolds before audiences, blending past and present to the tune of beloved, unforgettable songs from Sondheim, Bernstein, Gershwin and more.

Being Alive is the highly anticipated return of the Larry Kert Show series, which is dedicated to honoring innovative LGBTQ+ figures from theatre history. This series premiered at The Green Room 42 in 2025 with it’s inaugural Something’s Coming cabaret. A portion of the proceeds from Being Alive will benefit G.L.I.T.S. - “a Black trans-led advocacy and direct services organization that is dedicated to fighting systemic discrimination against marginalized communities, in New York City and beyond.”

Hosted by the creator of the Larry Kert Project, Jules Cort, with music direction by Aidan S. Wells, the show features the incredible talents of Joe Chisholm, David J. Baldwin, Melanie Sierra, Marek Zurowski, Isaac Rosen, Jennifer Soraya Rose, Laura Guley, Paul Tuaty, and special guests Nashley Tisdale and Queen David. In-person and livestream tickets are available! The show's running time is approx. 75 mins.

Close out your Pride Month by raising money for a great cause and celebrating the activist, icon, and star that is Larry Kert!

The Larry Kert Project is based in New York City, developing new works by emerging and marginalized voices. Founded in 2024, their research and productions are driven by a passion for history and entertainment, honoring those whose shoulders the artists of today stand upon.
