This will be Hotsy Totsy Burlesque’s first send-up of comedy legend Mel Brooks — and what better month to bring it to you than June 2026, the month he celebrates his 100th birthday.
Cherry Pitz and Handsome Brad have decided to make their fortune by producing the worst play ever to hit The Slipper Room — they just have to find a script atrocious enough.
Inspired by a late-night viewing of The Producers and certainly one gummy too many, they now invite you to join them as they review terrible scripts, questionable ideas, and previews of the kinds of performances such theatrical disasters might inspire.
Expect monsters, mayhem, musical numbers, bad decisions, camp chaos, and the kind of comedy that could only come from attempting to pay tribute to the gloriously twisted mind of Mel Brooks.
HOSTED BY: Cherry Pitz and Handsome Brad
ACTS BY: Desiree DeSade, Jackie Galaxy, Professor M, Queensiñera, and Miranda Raven
GO-GO: Dylan Mary Jane
KITTEN Farrah Rose
HELPING OUT: Helen Blash and Brief Sweat
Mel Brooks is the man who brought you Yogurt (not the food), History of the World (sort of), Spaceballs, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Young Frankenstein!
Born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn — long before it was cool — Brooks went on to become one of the most influential comedy creators of all time, building a career out of fearless satire, absurdity, and gloriously bad taste.
The creator of classics including Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, The Producers, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Brooks helped redefine American comedy while lovingly mocking every genre imaginable. Along the way, he became one of the rare entertainers to achieve EGOT status, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Brooks — and thank you for inspiring generations of weirdos, comedians, camp lovers, and theatrical troublemakers.
About Hotsy Totsy Burlesque:
Hotsy Totsy Burlesque just turned 19! Since our debut in April 2007, we've dazzled packed houses with monthly nerdlesque tributes to cult classics and beloved fandoms. Audiences keep coming back for the wild plot twists, dazzling costumes, and the sheer joy of our long-running theatrical burlesque soap opera.
Each month, you're invited to The Home for Wayward Girls and Fallen Women, where we raise funds (and G-strings) to keep the lights on and the glitter flowing. Along the way, we’ve battled Daleks, Darth Vader, The Borg, the ghost of Vincent Price, network censors, evil from other dimensions—and most recently, COVID-19. No matter the foe, House Mother Cherry Pitz and her faithful consort Handsome Brad promise you laughs, tassels, and fabulous nerdy fun.
Join us for Hotsy Totsy Burlesque, where the motto is: “We’ve fallen, we can’t get up—and we like it that way!”
