Happy Life Day! For the 14th year!

Gather around the Tree of Life—it’s time for the Hotsy Totsy Burlesque Star Wars Holiday Special tribute! They have been doing this for 14 years, each time with a brand-new script and featuring a selection of odd and troubling clips from the original TV show.

This year, George Lucas is back with more ideas on how to expand the celebration of Life Day. Could it get any worse than the original 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special? Right?

This is the 14th year of Hotsy Totsy paying tribute to The Star Wars Holiday Special, celebrating its 46th anniversary! If you haven’t seen it, you haven’t experienced Bea Arthur singing and dancing with space-alien bar patrons in the Tatooine Cantina (watch here).

Widely considered one of the worst holiday specials ever, it even has its own documentary, A Disturbance in the Force (link). George Lucas famously said, “If I had the time and a sledgehammer, I would track down every copy of that show and smash it.”

Imagine Star Wars mashed with rejected skits from The Carol Burnett Show and out-of-work Sid and Marty Krofft actors. The original trilogy cast—Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford—were trapped under contract, while writers who hadn’t even seen the movie brought in top talent like Harvey Korman, Bea Arthur, Art Carney, and Tony Award–winner Dianne Carroll.

It’s packed with WTF moments: Carrie Fisher singing (clip), unexpected musical numbers, and yes… even Wookie-p*rn (clip).
