The Alden Theatre's McLean Kids Series will present mask maker and mime Doug Berky in Gems: The World's Wisdom Stories, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 16. The performance will be followed by a Mask Workshop lead by Berky at 4:30 p.m. Tickets to the performance are $14, $10 for McLean tax district residents.

Tickets to the mask workshop are $10 per person and are only available through the Alden Theatre Box Office. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

Berky's performances transcend age, race and culture. Using the illusion of a mime, the antics of a clown, the transformation of a mask and the suspense of a good story, Berky inspires audiences to laugh and reflect. 'Gems: The World's Wisdom Stories' uses storytelling styles from many cultures including masks, mime, inventive costumes and puppetry to introduce families to stories of wisdom from around the world. Each performance is tailored to the audience, with up to four stories being presented from the following selection: The Lion and the Mouse, The Boy Who Cried Wolf (Aesop's), The Drip Nose Boy (Native American), "The Lame Man and the Blind Man" (Middle East) and "The Tiger's Whisker" (Korea).
