Alden Theatre Presents Crabgrass Puppets' THE DAY IT SNOWED TORTILLAS 4/24

By: Apr. 07, 2010

The McLean Kids Performance Series at the Alden Theatre will present Crabgrass Puppet Theatre's The Day it Snowed Tortillas at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24. Tickets are $14, $10 for McLean district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

Founded in 1982 by Jamie Keithline and Bonny Hall, Crabgrass Puppet Theatre is an award-winning touring puppet theatre. Creative problem-solving is the key ingredient that helps a poor couple outwit a gang of bullies. A poor woodcutter and his wife have the chance of a lifetime-to become rich! All they have to do is keep a secret. The trouble is the woodcutter is the biggest blabbermouth south of the border. The "recipe" for this hilarious folktale includes fantastic puppets, hysterically funny action, marvelous music and one ridiculous chicken. Hall was awarded a commendation for design in puppet theatre by the Arlyn Award Foundation for The Day It Snowed Tortillas.

A Puppet Extravaganza Workshop will follow the performance at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per child ages six and older, accompanied by an adult. Participants will create finger puppets and a stage to use to perform shows at home.

Tickets are on sale now! To purchase tickets, stop by the Alden Theatre Box Office, or to purchase tickets by telephone or online, contact Ticketmaster at 703-573-SEAT, or www.ticketmaster.com. For more information, call 703-790-0123, or visit: www.aldentheatre.org.
