Circle Players ends its 64th Season of shows with the edgy and socially relevant rock musical bare, A Pop Opera. The show deals with the gamut of issues faced by teens today-- sexuality, drug abuse, bullying, pregnancy and suicide-set in a religious school. For this production, Circle Players partners with Just Us @ Oasis Center, which provides support for high school students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ). Performances will be May 23-June 1, 2014, at Sarratt Cinema on the Vanderbilt University campus.

The Center for the Arts located at the corner of Church and College streets off of the square in Murfreesboro introduces Disney's MY SON PINOCCHIO Jr., The show presents an endearing twist on the classic tale of toymaker Geppetto and his little wooden puppet Pinocchio. This new musical, which retells the classic Disney story from Geppetto's perspective, features the beloved songs 'When You Wish Upon a Star' and 'I've Got No Strings,' alongside a host of new songs by Oscar- and Grammy Award-winner Stephen Schwartz, tackling timely issues about what it means to be 'the perfect child' - and what it means to be 'a real father.'

When you enter Andrew Jackson Hall at Tennessee Performing Arts Center this week, you'll be greeted with a backdrop with these words: "On December 4, 1956, one man brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley together to play for the first and only time. His name was Sam Phillip…The place was Sun Records… That night they made rock 'n' roll history." This sets the mood for the night right away. You can't help but know you're about to see something special. Million Dollar Quartet has come to Nashville. Fluctuating somewhere between a memoir, and musical, and a rock concert, Million Dollart Quartet is set in another of Tennessee's famed cities, Memphis.

Tennessee Repertory Theatre has announced its schedule for the Martha R. Ingram New Works Festival. The festival will be held today, May 7 - 17 and will feature staged readings of new plays from four emerging playwrights as well as Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Doug Wright. Wright is this year's recipient of the Ingram New Works Fellowship.

Street Theatre Company brings Nashville the premiere of the musical VIOLET. Set in 1964 in the Deep South during the early days of the Civil Rights Movement, VIOLET, with a book by Brian Crawley, music by Jeanine Tesori, and lyrics by Brian Crawley, follows the enlightenment of a bitter young woman accidentally scarred by her father. In hopes that a TV evangelist can cure her, she embarks on a journey by bus. CC Playhouse Presents ASL Performance of ANNE FRANK Tonight

Tonight, April 24 at 7:30 PM, Cumberland County Playhouse will present a special performance of The Diary of Anne Frank that will be interpreted for the deaf and hearing impaired. The American Sign Language interpreters for the event will be Crosville residents Bob and Kathy Tolich who, between the two of them, share thirty years' experience signing and interpreting in law enforcement, church, concert and community settings. The couple moved to Crossville in 2013, and have been active in reaching the deaf community in Crossville and the surrounding areas ever since.
