Clarence Brown Theatre to Host 40th Anniversary Plaza Party, 8/9

The Clarence Brown Theatre will host a 40th Anniversary Season Plaza Party on Saturday, August 9 from 4:00-7:00pm. A family-friendly event, the party will feature door prizes, music, games, food carts, backstage tours, a special season ticket package price, and info on the new season. The party is free and open to the public.

"We look forward to welcoming our community to the first-ever CBT Plaza Party on August 9th. It'll be a great evening of celebration as we usher in our 40th Anniversary Season. Grab your family, friends and neighbors for a one-of-a-kind experience," said David B. Byrd, CBT Managing Director.

Games for young and old alike, including life-size Connect Four and Chess, will be available along with face painting and Cornhole. Tours of the Carousel and CBT will take place every 30 minutes throughout the event.

Four local food vendors, Pop Culture, Campfire Grill, Dale's Fried Pies, and Good Golly Tamale, will be on site with specialties available for purchase. Also at the party will be WUTK, WUOT and UT Federal Credit Union, all CBT media and/or production sponsors.

A special season subscription package will be available for patrons who purchase at the party. Patrons who purchase on that day will see 8 shows for only $140. The special price is for new subscribers only, is limited to two subscriptions and excludes Opening Night.

With a dual mission to train the next generation of theatre artists and to provide top quality professional theatre, the Clarence Brown Theatre at the University of Tennessee Knoxville is one of only 12 academic LORT (League of Resident Theatre) institutions in the nation. Under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Calvin MacLean and Managing Director David B. Byrd, the CBT season runs from August through May and features eight productions ranging from musicals to drama.

The 2014-2015 season includes: Hank Williams: Lost Highway, The Miracle Worker, 4000 Miles, A Christmas Carol, "Master Harold"...and the boys, A Midsummer Night's Dream, A Shayna Maidel, and The Threepenny Opera.
