BWW Review: CTC Spectacular Style Inhabits Superlative World Premiere THE HOBBIT

On a middle of the month March weekend, Children's Theatre Company (CTC) of Minneapolis on the United Health Group Stage, offered their audiences a Middle Earth journey when they presented the World Premiere The Hobbit.  Based on one of J.R.R. Tolkien's bestselling novels, the British actor, director and playwright Greg Banks adapted and then directed the production, which featured an original musical score by fellow Brit Tom Johnson. The classic story of Middle Earth Dwarves reclaiming their culture and treasure stolen form them by a fire breathing creature imagines adventure and exhilaration galore, enough to last an entire evening and long after the actors leave the stage.

World-renowned French dance company Ballet Preljocaj brings a fascinating exploration of the supernatural power of art to Northrop Sat, Mar 30, with La Fresque (The Painting on the Wall). Choreographed by "one of France's foremost contemporary dance choreographers" Angelin Preljocaj, the piece plunges audiences into the rich symbolism and metaphor of a traditional Chinese tale telling the story of travelers mesmerized by a magnificent fresco.

New Native Theatre Premieres Lakota Play During Tenth Anniversary Season

For the third show in its Tenth Anniversary Season, New Native Theatre produces a story that examines how college life factors into a Native American existence. Wounspe Wanktya - A College Education, follows the story of Tashina and Tiffany, two Lakota freshmen in college, when they decide to sew a sacred dress to help them get through their four years of school as they experience the good, the bad, the funny, and the spiritual. Written by Lakota playwright Alex Hesbrook Ramier, New Native Theatre produced a version of this play at their Third Annual National Native American Ten Minute Play Festival. Now, audiences can witness the story in its entirety at the world premiere!
