Matrix Summer Camps Add Community Service Component
Over the past 25 years, Matrix's young artists have written original plays about their community, and this year, campers will have the opportunity to participate in an afternoon of service to give back to the community that inspires their work. Camps run at various times from June 20 through July 22, and each camp session offers individual age-specific curriculums for youth between the ages of 8 - 18. All camps are held at Matrix Theatre Company, 2730 Bagley Street, Detroit, MI 48216 Monday - Friday, 9 am - 4 pm. Financial assistance is available and free lunches are provided to all campers. Childcare is not available before or after camp hours. To register go to www.matrixtheatre.org, and download a registration packet. Email the completed packet to athomas@matrixtheatre.org. For further information, call Amy Thomas at 313 967 0999, ext. 3.
"We're really excited about this summer's camps," said Amy Thomas, Director of Education. "It's important for youth to give back to their community, and we look forward to seeing the performances they create from those experiences."
