(12/05/2016) - Remember in the golden era of live night club shows when the star of the show had a great opening act? A Boca Raton audience got a double dose of entertainment last night as legendary actor, comedian, (and if you didn't know it WW ll hero) Marty Allen brought his show to the Boca Black Box. In true show biz tradition the audience was warmed up, or more accurately put thrilled and fired up by the exciting vocalist pianist, and songwriter, Karon Kate Backwell. She possesses all the excitement and talents of a Wayne Newton, Jerry Lee Lewis and Celine Dion. The audience gave her a standing ovation and so did her husband of 31 years Marty Allen.

After five whole months of hard work, dedication, and practice, an absolutely fantastic show came together. This is my last show at Parkway Middle School of the Arts, and I could not have asked for a better experience as my last memory in such a wonderful performing arts program.

(05/05/2016) - Way back around October and November, a class of eighth graders started writing their very own musical. And I am proud to say that I was in that class! At first, it started off very small. All we had were notebooks and pens and little ideas in our minds that sounded very stupid at the time. We had no idea that such small efforts put together would end up making such a big production.
(04/26/2016) - Theatre was something I knew I was interested in ever since I was little. I joined the drama club in fifth grade, but I was a shy little flower back then. I didn't think I was good enough to continue theatre when I reached the sixth grade. But when I saw the performances my school put on, I was amazed. The costumes, the dancing, the singing. I was drawn to it. So the next school year right after that, I knew I had to join them. I couldn't stand and watch anymore. I wanted to be on stage. I wanted to wear the costumes and dance with the ensemble and sing my heart out. I had to be a part of what I was tragically missing!

(04/25/2016) - It has been quite a stellar theatre season for the Ft. Lauderdale High School Stageplayers, who took creativity to a new level with two of the most vibrant musicals available. FLHS Drama has put itself on the map in the past in the ever-growing South Florida theatre community; the Stageplayers received the Southeast Regional High School Theatre Honors Program Award in 2015. Despite the accolade, FLHS Drama refused to take a breather. The club buckled itself into the driver's seat of South Florida high school theatre, speeding to new intersections of artistry and charisma.
