phoria: a trans musical anthology at Renberg Theatre @ LA LGBT Center

p h o r i a is a 75-minute musical anthology presented by 8TPS, featuring a gender-expansive vocal octet and string quartet performing contemporary works by trans and nonbinary composers. The program showcases six world premieres from local artists Anaís Azul, Aria Gittelson, Wells Leng, Tanner Pfeiffer, Yaya Vasquez-Lopez, and Socks Whitmore. Inspired by the root -phoria derived from the Greek word phoros meaning to carry, the concert takes audiences on an emotional journey through a new lexicon of words for trans experience, from the search for belonging to the carrying of our own flowers.
