Poet/performer Camille Hernandez, the Poet Laureate of Anaheim, presents a one-woman performance transforming poetry from her chapbook Motherlands with movement, rhythm, and language. The work explores themes of diaspora, belonging, and inheritance, navigating identity across generations, languages, and geographies. Hernandez crafts vibrant portraits of marginalized women, including Black, Filipino, poor, immigrant, disabled, medically marginalized, gender-expansive, and mothering women. The performance blends spoken word and performance art traditions with the physicality of dance and theatre.
