An exhilarating musical exploration of the relationships we nurture and the ones we set free on our journey to collective liberation. A one- night-only theatrical concert. Produced by Berkeley Sanjay, Santa Monica Playhouse Associate Director of Adult Education, this one-night-only musical journey features LENA WINNER, an actress with a background in psychology and a love for helping her community; ADYA MOHANTY, an actor, singer, and writer who is a network TV guest star, a lead in independent short films, a featured player in a Nike commercial for the Women’s World Cup and a recent performer at the Apollo Theater in New York City; BENNETT RHINE, an artist, writer, and poet who believes in language’s ability to disrupt dominant narratives and create possibilities by imagining new futures for us to inhabit. Joining them on June 29 at 7:00pm are JAYLA, a Californian artist who speaks to herself in hopes that you hear her; ALEXIS MILAN TURNER, an actress, singer, and dancer whose determination, ambition, humor, and bubbly personality light up a room; SIMHA, a recording artist exploring Soul, Jazz, and Indian classical sound, seamlessly blending elements of eastern and western music by experimenting with the freedom of harmony; AMY AMATYA, a musician and writer from Los Angeles who plays violin on people's records, writes and reads about how everything is connected, hangs out with communists, engages with the local songwriter scene, and bikes along Ballona Creek; NORA KENZA, a singer song-writer who is a passionate advocate for others; NANKI CHUGH, a violinist, writer, composer and educator passionate about connecting music, science and storytelling to reimagine education, spark curiosity, and foster meaningful connections; and LJ, contributing musical stylings to the show. Santa Monica Playhouse is supported in part by generous grants from the We Are Santa Monica Fund, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Arts Commission, and Playhouse PALS.
