My Lawyer is an Angel – chasing the ambulance chasers off the road! Jerry Mayer’s world premiere serious comedy at Santa Monica Playhouse

From the acclaimed team that brought you Aspirin & ELEPHANTS, 2 Across, Almost Perfect, A Love Affair, Mistakes Were Made and You Haven’t Changed a Bit (and Other Lies) comes the world premiere of Jerry Mayer’s 13th play.

Acclaimed playwright Mayer’s serious comedy underscores the importance of family, closefriendships, and “girl power,” and how terribly things can go awry when we place the bottom line at the top of the list.

“Angel” also fulfills Mayer’s life-long crusade against ambulance chasers, those predators whose faces leer down at us from every billboard in town, as he introduces the angel of an attorney (yes, there is such a thing) who's on a mission to chase them off the road.

ANGEL reunites renowned playwright Jerry Mayer with veteran (and frequent Mayer) director Chris DeCarlo. Original music is by Steve Mayer. The stellar cast features DeCarlo (Author! Author!, Mistakes Were Made), Summer Moran (Off-Broadway: Ebb&Flow, Breaking the Internet LIVE!), Natasha Renae Potts (The Impact of Dildos on a Funeral, Romeo and Juliet, Branwell and the other Brontes) and Brian Tyson (Misery, Henry VI, Hand of God).

94-year-old playwright Jerry Mayer, who has written for M*A*S*H, The Bob Newhart Show, All in the Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Facts of Life (where he was executive producer) and five of Mitzi Gaynor’s TV Specials, never shies away from tackling the big issues and MY LAWYER IS AN ANGEL is no exception.

Chris DeCarlo, Playhouse Co-Artistic Director, has helmed 12 of Mayer’s world premiere comedies.
