Liberation makes its West Coast premiere at Geffen Playhouse, following a successful run on Broadway. Written by Bess Wohl and directed by Whitney White, the play unfolds in 1970 Ohio, where six women gather for a consciousness-raising group, grappling with the complexities of friendship, power, and the political nature of personal struggles. As their dynamic evolves, the play challenges the meaning of freedom and highlights the challenges of revolution. This sharply funny and emotionally resonant work invites audiences to reflect on the importance of collective action and individual empowerment.
