William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar is a historical tragedy dramatizing the 44 B.C. conspiracy to assassinate the Roman leader to prevent him from becoming a tyrant. Following his murder on the Ides of March, led by Brutus and Cassius, the play centers on the subsequent chaos, civil war, and the fall of the conspirators against Mark Antony and Octavius.
