Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival will present its 12th Annual Empowerment Weekend of workshops and panels tailored to empower and enhance the careers of solo performers, and an informative event to benefit all performers.

 

This well-rounded week-end event includes career development offerings from industry professionals that are designed to offer workshops and panels for solo artists as they guide them to the next level of their work. Workshops and panels will cover such areas that include creating a solo show, marketing, teamwork, self-care, and career development. Attendees will be offered 10 offerings that will enhance their individual careers.

            Below is a roster of scheduled events:

            DAY ONE

"OWN YOUR STAGE" - September 27, 2025

 

"CREATING A SOLO SHOW" 

10 am - 11:20 am (Workshop) 

This workshop will guide solo artists as they explore their creative expressions through the process of developing, writing, and performing their own solo show—from concept to curtain call. This workshop will include writing prompts and explore how to choose stories, structure, and narrative arc.

 

"TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK"

11:30am - 12:45 pm (Panel)

This panel of professionals may include a theatrical and technical director, marketing and publicity team members, dramaturg, publisher, and other key collaborators. Presenters will speak on the importance of building a trusted creative team, and how to find professional team members who are passionate and right for their works. 

 

LUNCH 12:50 pm - 1:35 pm

 

"FUNDING YOUR VISION" 

1:45 pm - 3:00 pm (Workshop)

Presenters of this interactive workshop will discuss funding, utilizing such skill sets as grant writing, crowdfunding, and funders such as government grantors, official sponsors, and in-kind donors. Participants who have already funded projects are encouraged to share their successful funding journey.

 

"BRANDING YOUR ARTISTIC VOICE" 

3:10 pm - 4:20 pm (Panel)

This Panel will guide artists along their paths to craft a clear, authentic, artistic vision for their show that translates into marketing strategies. In this session, artists will explore how to articulate their work, give voice to their individuality, and align their public presence to attract audiences.

 

"NETWORKING WITH PURPOSE" 

4:30pm - 5:30 pm (Workshop)

This workshop is designed to empower artists across disciplines as they communicate their creative vision, find common ground with others, cultivate relationships rooted in mutual respect, shared purpose, and future partnerships.

 

DAY TWO

"FUEL YOUR FIRE" - September 28, 2025

 

"MOVEMENT & MINDFULNESS" 

10 am - 11:20 am (Workshop)

This workshop is rooted in physical and spiritual expression and invites participants to connect with their bodies through dance, movement, meditation, and other forms of wholistic alignment. 

 

"ARTISTS IN THE FACE OF PERSONAL AND COLLECTIVE CHALLENGES" 

11:30 am - 12:30 pm (Panel)

During these times of uncertainty, artists will explore radical self-care as a form of resilience, resistance, and renewal by defining ways of wholistic wellness as essential to sustainable creativity and community social impact.

 

"WRITING FOR HEALING" 

1:45 pm - 3:00 pm (Workshop)

This workshop will explore creative and therapeutic benefits of personal writing. Participants will explore their vulnerability and authentic selves through various writing prompts in a safe space.

 

"STORYTELLING CIRCLES" 

3:10 pm - 4:20 pm (Panel)

A panel of multi-disciplined solo artists will explore how personal stories can transform into performance and artistic autonomy. Participants will reflect on their own storytelling journeys, offering insights into process, challenges, balance, and how it is possible to make a living through personal craft.

 

"ANCESTRAL POWER & CULTURAL LEGACY" 

4:30 pm - 5:30 pm (Workshop)

This transformative workshop will explore diversity through identity, heritage, and individual storytelling as tools to preserve memory, tradition, and to celebrate personal narratives. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own familial and cultural histories by sharing their lived stories.
