Playhouse Managing Director Steven B. Libman announced today the appointment of Joan Cumming to the position of Director of Marketing, effective September 24. For more than 20 years, Cumming has worked with a diverse range of cultural organizations focusing on marketing, audience development, ticket sales, brand management and strategic planning.

Most recently the Vice-President of Marketing for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cumming was responsible for $52 million in ticket sales for presentations at the Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. Cumming has also served as Director of Marketing for the Los Angeles Opera, was Associate Director of Marketing for the Boston Ballet and was the Managing Director of La Placa Cohen, an agency/consulting firm that specializes in addressing issues related to the cultural consumer.
