Northport-East Northport Public Library Partners With John W. Engeman

By: Oct. 19, 2011

The Northport-East Northport Public Library has partnered with the John W. Engeman Theater to offer a series of Workshops for Children. From September through December the Museum Cove, a specialized learning space in the Children's Department at the Northport Library, is highlighting Theater and the Performing Arts. To help assist with the Library's exhibit, the John W. Engeman Theater, is providing complimentary acting workshops for children at the Library. The theater also supplied costumes and props from previous Youth Theater shows on loan for the Museum Cove exhibit.

"Through our Museum Cove collaboration with the John W. Engeman Theater at Northport, we have been able to bring the excitement of theater performance to our young library patrons," said Janet Naideau, Librarian. "Stage props on display, terrific workshops, and a chance to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at a preferred ticket rate are the wonderful products of this fun and valuable partnership," added Liz Englert, Librarian.

The next workshop, Broadway for Kids, will be held on Wednesday, November 9 at 4:00 pm for children grades K-2. Join a teacher from the John W. Engeman School of The Performing Arts for a "moving" experience. This class will guide students in creative expression through movement, acting and other theater games. Registration begins Oct 26 at either Library Building or online at www.nenpl.org.
