Summerstock VTC Music Directors Needed - Vanguard Theater Company

Location: Elmer, NJ

Dates: July 30–August 17, 2026

Compensation: $1600

(Housing & meals provided – residential program)



Important Program Information



This position takes place at a sleepaway camp serving campers ages 12–19. Music Directors live on-site for the full duration of the program and should be excited by a fully immersive, fast-paced, and intensive camp-based theater experience.



Full availability for the entire program is required.



Key Dates



July 30–31: Offsite training (Montclair, NJ)



August 1: Onsite training begins (Elmer, NJ)



August 2: Campers arrive



August 16: Campers depart



August 17: Staff Depart



Ideal Candidates



Have 3+ years of music direction experience (theatrical, educational, or professional)



Are comfortable working with performers ages 12–19



Thrive in collaborative, high-energy environments



Are excited by immersive, community-oriented summer work



Have completed at least two years of college or are two full years graduated from high school
