Kate Hamill is one of the country’s most produced playwrights and formerly penned a smash adaption of “Sense and Sensibility” for Bedlam Theatre in NYC. Her “Pride and Prejudice” maintains much of the same rollicking energy, but with the voice of an author writing in the #metoo era. In the words of the Berkshire Edge, “…beneath ‘Pride and Prejudice’s’ laughs, there’s a core, more delicate sensibility – a wry, keen awareness that regards, with squinted eye, people warts and all. This ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is blissful mirth – a special potion of affectionate, bemused cynicism and realistic optimism about human nature…”
In PRIDE AND PREJUDICE the outspoken Elizabeth Bennet faces mounting pressure from her status-conscious mother to secure a suitable marriage. But is marriage suitable for a woman of Elizabeth’s intelligence and independence? Especially when the irritating, aloof, self-involved… tall, vaguely handsome, mildly amusing, and impossibly aristocratic Mr. Darcy keeps popping up at every turn?!

It will run November 29 – December 22, 2018, at Studio 101, Spring Street Studios, 1824 Spring Street, Houston, TX 77007. Shows run at 7:30pm on Thursdays through Saturdays and at 3:00pm on Sundays. Tickets run from $17 to $53, with a Pay-What-You-Can performance Monday, December 17. There will be cast talkbacks following the Sunday matinees on December 9 and December 16. The play contains some adult language and themes.

4th Wall Extends “Pride and Prejudice” Run After Sell-Out First Weekend
Houston, TX—Opening to a weekend full of packed houses, 4th Wall Theatre Company has decided to add an additional Saturday matinee to their run of Kate Hamill’s “Pride and Prejudice.” The show has already garnered acclaim from critics and fans alike, and audiences are encouraged to buy seats soon.
“With a strong ensemble cast, impeccable 360-degree sets, and pop musical transitions between scenes, you will be laughing and enjoying yourself through this entire production,” raves Doni Wilson from Houstonia Magazine.
