Rec Room Arts Hosts 3rd Annual Beer and Ice Cream Social Tasty news! Back again by popular demand, Rec Room Arts, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) arts organization, will host its 3rd Annual Beer & Ice Cream Social on Saturday, March 31st from 7 pm - 12 am at Rec Room in downtown Houston. It promises to be quite the fundraiser!

Good times will include a festival style line-up of live performances by Rec Room Artists in Residence Joe Wozny, Las Girls Collective (Brenda Cruz-Wolf & Daniela Antelo), jhon r. stronks, Nancy Douthey, Camron Alexander & the Afterglow Collective, and Candice D'Meza. The evening will also include grilled hot dogs and homemade fixins by Chef Matt Marcus of Eatsie Boys, a silent art auction, live music, beer generously donated by 8th Wonder Brewery, and an ice cream cart full of childhood ice cream truck treats!

As a new arts organization, Rec Room Arts relies solely on the support of the community to produce innovative work by established and emerging artists both locally and beyond. Ticket fees will go directly towards serving our mission: to develop innovative work by emerging and established artists across disciplines in order to energize a new generation of audiences for the arts. The organization can't provide a space to present new works, develop groundbreaking productions, and give artists an affordable performance platform without financial support.

From established artists to emerging, fringe and up-and-coming artists, Rec Room Arts is interested in supporting individuals who work to bend and break the rules of conventional performance. Rec Room Arts supports the development of new work by inviting artists to propose, create, and present works of theatre, dance, music, opera, performance art, film and more.

How? Artists are encouraged to apply to the Rec Room Arts' Artist Residency program, open to individuals or groups of artists who are not part of an established company or professional organization. This year's RESIDENCY FESTIVAL runs through March 25 and is funded in part by the Houston Arts Alliance and the City of Houston.

Rec Room Arts also produces a season of multi-disciplinary live performance. The current season included productions of RITE OF SPRING, DEAD ROCKSTAR SING-A-LONG CLUB, SENDER, HANSEL & GRETEL.

The Board of Directors includes Abby Koenig (President), Ryan Leach (VP) and Chelsea Viles Cutler. Stephanie Wittels Wachs serves as Executive Director and Matt Hune serves as Artistic Director. Tasha Gorel is House Manager, Gregory Starbid is Technical Director and Angela Eleuterius is Director of Operations.
