The King of the Grail, Amfortas, suffers from an incurable wound. He was injured when succumbed to the seduction of the beautiful Kundry in the castle of the evil Klingsor. Only a "pure fool, knowing through compassion", can release him from his pain. After long wanderings and "now knowing" from the kiss of the former temptress, Kundry, Parsifal is able to recover the holy spear. The power of Klingsor is broken and Amfortas is free from suffering. Parsifal reveals the hidden Grail, which promises strength and youth.
