3 Males to play the witches and murderers:

There is a connection between the witches and the murderers. “I am one Whom the vile blows and buffets of the world Hath so incensed that I am reckless what I do to Spite the world.” The Witches are forces of chaos and darkness. Otherworldly. Menacing. Powerful. Wicked. Connected to the devil and to nature. The witches are seers. They have been wronged by fortune. They control the winds.

  • Witch #1/Murderer #1, Murderer of Lady Macduff:

    (Male, 30s-50s) Murderer #1: a former soldier who once had opportunities, status and loved ones but who has now lost everything – family and freedom. A desperate soul. Hungry for either death or revenge.Murderer of Lady Macduff: a thug.


  • Witch #2/Murder #2, Murderer of Lady Macduff:

    (Male, 30s-50s. Murderer #2: a former soldier who once had opportunities, status and loved ones but who has now lost everything – family and freedom. A desperate soul. Hungry for either death or revenge. Murderer of Lady Macduff: a thug.


  • Witch #3/ Servant of Macbeth (merged with 3rd Murderer and Murderer of Lady Macduff):

    Male 30-50s. Servant of Macbeth (who becomes the 3rd murderer and the murderer of Lady Macduff):a wicked man. A cutthroat. Is politically savvy, discreet, ruthless and smart.


Lady Macduff, Gentlewoman, Servant in Banquet + as cast:

Female, 30s. Lady Macduff: Wife of Macduff. Mother of his children. Smart, wholesome and strong. She possess tremendous love for her family. Gentlewoman: Lady Macbeth's serving woman. Fears her mistress.

Caithness, English Doctor, Donalbain:

Male, 20s. Donalbain: Duncan's youngest son. 20's. Caithness: Scottish nobleman. A warrior. English doctor: representative of the holy king of England. Brings in news of the king's miraculous healing. A compassionate and good man.

Malcolm:

Male 20s. Duncan's oldest son. An intellectual in a society of warriors. A leading man. The play ends with Scotland in his hands. We must believe Scotland will being to heal under his rule. Brave. Willing to fight for what's right. Clever. Shrewd. He grows from a boy into a man during the course of the play. Has to make a very difficult scene compelling.

Fleance, Young Macduff, Young Siward, messenger:

Male. Should read ten years old and 17 years old). Fleance: Banquo's young son. The future king. A teenager. Young Macduff: a young boy, should be 10 years old. Innocent. Witty. Close to his mother and father. Precocious. Young Siward: A young man. A teenager. Represents the generation that is sacrificed during Macbeth's reign of terror. Needs to be someone who is either legally 18 or emancipated. Can be in his 20s but must be able to suggest a pre-pubescent boy.

Bloody Sergeant/Mentieth + Lord in Banquet + as cast:

Male, 30s - 50s). Bloody Sergeant: A brave, loyal and dedicated soldier. Has to deliver one of the most difficult speeches in the play. Mentieth: A Scottish nobleman and a warrior.
