BREAKDOWN

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Include your name, pronouns, and Equity status in your slate. If you don't have access to a reader, please read the sides without the other character’s lines being read.

Please record the following side depending on who you are submitting for at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18TiygwqTe7DyWkVYdq1-cpSiGfMSh4ed

Elyot: Side D

Sibyl: Side A

Victor: Side B

Louise: Side F plus approximately 30-60 seconds of a love power ballad of your choice accompanied by yourself on the piano. If you’d like to show us an additional instrument(s), you are welcome to. Pick a song you'll have a blast showing to us.

To learn more about the concept for this production, please watch this video from our director: https://youtu.be/2eDo3ZQCZcI .

SEEKING:

All roles will be understudied.

SYBIL CHASE: (she/her) Early to mid 20s, coquettish, bubbly, and somewhat shallow not given to particularly deep thought. Very much the blushing bride, she is several years younger than her husband, deferring him and denying any intention to “manage” or run his life.

ELYOT CHASE: (he/him) Early to mid-30s, Sibyl’s wealthy, flippant, and self-indulgent new husband who is full of cutting wit; formerly married to Amanda. Refusing ever to be serious, his philosophy, if any, is his belief that in the long run everything is “nonsense”, nothing lasts and the intelligent response is to live for the moment. However, Elyot has his insecurities, and is not unaffected by social expectations.

VICTOR PRYNNE: (he/him) mid to late 30s, Victor is rather formal and dignified, possibly a bit dull. Steadfastly conventional and self-consciously masculine, he is the conservative counterpart to Elyot’s rebellious flippancy. Victor is very pleased to describe himself as “normal.”

AMANDA PRYNNE: ROLE CAST.

LOUISE: (she/her) 20s to 30s, the French maid at Amanda’s Paris flat (and French speaking). She is our Puck-like guide through this wild romp and at times, makes the show her own cabaret.
