SINGERS: You may use your own song and accompaniment or choose one of the options at the following link with the dance/combo instructions and example:

Please film your audition in front of a clean background, with no backlighting. As much as possible, limit ambient noise including air conditioners and other electronics. Use a secondary audio source to play the accompaniment music to avoid interference. Please submit to casting@thegateway.org using an unlisted Youtube (not private) or

SEEKING

A diverse and multi ethnic cast of powerful singer actors with unique abilities who dance extremely well for the ensemble and chorus parts in Newsies. All roles are open.

Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this new Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the beautiful female reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.”

NEWSIES ENSEMBLE – male/ female, age 18-32, any ethnicity. Must dance and tap extremely well. 5’11” and under. Singing a plus; tumbling a plus.

CHARACTER ENSEMBLE – male/female, age 25-55. any ethnicity. Must sing and act well and be able to play multiple roles.

This production will be rehearsed indoors and on property at The Gateway Playhouse in Bellport Village, NY, and performed indoors at The Patchogue Theater in Patchogue, NY. with the support of state and union guidelines.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.
