SEEKING
Equity actors (including individuals who play instruments and/or sing and/or move well) for various roles in our 2021-2022 Lookingglass Mainstage Season.
We will have understudies for all roles, we anticipate most understudies will be non-Equity.
Callbacks for specific roles may or may not take place in person.
INSTRUCTIONS
Slate at the top of the audition with your name, whether or not you sing, and if so, your best estimation of vocal range. Prepare one (1) contemporary monologue. Provide a list and level of any musical instruments played in addition to any specific special skills. Send submissions by VIMEO, DROPBOX or GOOGLE DRIVE or other accessible platforms to kbandealy@lookingglasstheatre.org and psmith@lookingglasstheatre.org. Once viewed, these these auditions will be deleted.

Late 20s to Early 30s. White. Female-identifying. A mainstay on the social scene, a fashionable dresser, and Jane's only child. She is her mother's trusted confidant, and like the mayor, shows grit and compassion. The reporter is a pro -- a woman in a male dominated field -- but she has a lot to learn. Her job is to cover war and criminal investigations… but she doesn’t clock the damage she’s doing to herself.

Late 40s to Early 50s. White. Female-identifying. Mayor of Chicago. Protégé of Daley #1. Tough. Determined. Resourceful. Misguided.
MARION STAMPS [PRECAST]
Late 30s to Early 40s. Black. Female-identifying. Activist. Cabrini resident. Mother of 5 daughters. Committed. Fierce. Unapologetic.
SWIBEL/ROTI [PRECAST]
50s. White. Male-identifying. Swibel is head of Chicago Housing Authority. Roti is alderman of the 1st Ward with strong ties to organized crime.
JAY MCMULLEN [PRECAST]
50s. White. Male-identifying. Journalist by profession. Married to the mayor. Also her Press Secretary.
TIGER [PRECAST]
Early 20s. Black. Female-identifying. Cabrini resident. Enormously frustrated by her circumstances. Direct. Wants answers.
BLACK CHE [PRECAST]
50s-60s. Black. Male-identifying. Cabrini Resident. Uncle to Tiger. Street/book smart. Hustler. Undeniably charming. Used to be a beautician.
MABEL FOLEY [PRECAST]
50s-60s. Black. Female-identifying. Cabrini Resident. Faithful to the Lord. Gracious and neighborly. Guardian of her grandson.
KID [PRECAST]
Late teens to Early 20s. Black. Male-identifying. Grandson to Mabel. Quiet. Pensive. Trying to make his own way. Misunderstood.

30s-40s. White. Male-identifying. Police Superintendent. Devoted to his force, but expects discipline.

CHARLIE [AVAILABLE]
Late 20s early 30s. Male identifying. AAPI. A neurotic, troubadour-outlaw, who thinks he’s cooler than he is. But also he is cool? His honeymoon is here and he needs quick cash to make it happen so he might as well steal it. Multi instrumentalist. Strong acoustic guitarist and baritone.
GABRIEL [AVAILABLE]
Late 30s to 40s. Any ethnicity. Male identifying. A hapless, hopeless loser, born into a crime family. He wants so badly to be a big time criminal, but he just doesn’t have the skill, stomach, or charisma to get it done. He’s been stuck at a low level position within the organization long past his prime. Multi instrumentalist. Strong bass player a plus.

30s to 40s. Any ethnicity. Male identifying Middle management within a criminal enterprise. A strong multi instrumentalist with a focus on electric guitar.
LUCY [PRECAST]
Late 20s to Early 30s. Female-identifying. AAPI. Energetic. Unapologetic. Loud. Witty. Quick. Big heart. Confident with singing.

60s-70s. Female-identifying. AAPI. Doting and devoted to her son and grandsons. Wiley. Blunt at times.

20s. Female-identifying. AAPI. Spunky. Seething. Vengeful (with gooood reason). She has been forced into sex work.

Mid-late 30s. Male-identifying. AAPI. Charlie’s cousin. Loyal. Upright. A father. Had a childhood dream of becoming a policeman. Must sing and be comfortable with an instrument.
FEINBERG [PRECAST]
30s-40s. Female-identifying. Any ethnicity. Security Enforcement Officer. Happily married to an Indian wife. Hard-boiled AND surprisingly nuanced. Comfortable singing.

30s. Male-identifying. Open ethnicity. Represents Lewis Carroll. White Knight is a loveable, but not very capable hero-type. Actor must be physically fit and comfortable riding a unicycle and with circus in general.
ALICE [PRECAST]
Girl-aged. Female-identifying. Open ethnicity. The title character. Wants desperately to be a queen. Actors must be physically fit/adept, comfortable with heights and with circus in general.
RED QUEEN/MAD HATTER/HUMPTY DUMPTY [PRECAST]
Any age. Any gender identity. Open ethnicity. Red Queen is…severe. Mad Hatter…has lost it. Humpty Dumpty is…exacting. Must be physically fit, comfortable on stilts and with falling from heights and with circus in general.
CHESHIRE CAT/MARCH HARE [PRECAST]
Any age. Male-identifying. Open ethnicity. Cheshire cat is smooth, slick. March Hare…is wound up.
Must be physically dynamic/fit, comfortable with leaping from heights and with circus in general.
