Prepare a brief contemporary musical theater song showing range. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided, but may not transpose. Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back.

Musical is based on the 2003 New Line Cinema film of the same name.

Seeking (all roles are available unless otherwise specified):

Buddy:

Man, any ethnicity, 30ish. Funny and warm, with an infectious personality. Has been raised as one of Santa's Elves, and has the innocence of a child. Has outrageous enthusiasm for everything he sees and does, but it is very genuine. Role made famous by Will Ferrell in the movie. Seeking a comedian with great subtle timing and an amazing singing voice.

Michael:

Boy, any ethnicity, 10 years old. Funny, smart. Amazing singing voice.

Santa:

Man, any ethnicity, 50s - 60s. Jolly, warm, funny. Amazing singing voice.

Update, posted 8.22.12 at 4 PM: The following roles, previously listed as available, have now been cast. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary, and for understudy positions. 2nd Update, posted 8.23.12 at 5 PM: Role of Jovie is now cast, too.

Walter:

CAST. Man, any ethnicity, 50s. Upscale, successful business man who has become cold and distant with his family until Buddy enters their life. Workaholic with little time left for enjoying life or appreciating simple things. Role played by James Caan in the movie. Actor must have a great singing voice.

Emily:

CAST. Woman, any ethnicity, 40s. Warm. Amazing singing voice.

Deb:

CAST. Woman, any ethnicity, 30s - 40s. Funny secretary, full of character and sharp wit. Amazing singing voice.

Mr. Greenway:

CAST. Man, any ethnicity, 50s. Shrewd businessman. Actor must have an amazing singing voice and great comic timing.

Store Manager:

CAST. Man, any ethnicity, 30s - 40s. Funny, physically large, full of character, lots of attitude, sassy and spirited. Actor must be able to sing well, and must have great comic timing.

Jovie:

CAST. Woman, any ethnicity, 20s - 30s. Warm, funny and comedic. A New Yorker who doesn’t have much Christmas spirit until meeting Buddy. Role played by Zooey Deschanel in the movie. Actress must have a great singing voice.
