SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Children's Theatre Company's 2026–27 Season (see breakdown). An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a 32-bar song and two contrasting monologues of your choice. Choose challenging, well-written material; there is no need to select exclusively from works written for young audiences. Equity’s contracts prohibit discrimination. Synopsis: Adapted for four actors, Greg Banks’ retelling of this classic tale invites audiences into rough theater magic to tell the tale of woodworker Geppetto and his wooden marionette, Pinocchio.

Twelve Kinds of Ice

Synopsis: Storyteller Ellen enchants the audience with vignettes of growing up with her beloved father and her relationship to the twelve kinds of ice that emerge over the winter. The first ice of the season, followed by icy panes of glass, then thick ice, and eventually skating ice. This cozy wintertime story has Ellen revisiting her youth as a means to find a cathartic end to her story.

Synopsis: A miserly and miserable, ever-so-cantankerous Grinch has observed the despicable Christmas joy of the Whos with disdain for decades. Enough! In this CTC holiday favorite, filled with music and Seussian rhymes, he plots the greatest heist imaginable—stealing the very thing they love the most! Until, that is, the smallest of the Whos, tiny Cindy Lou, extends a hand. Through the combination of kindness and community, we witness not only a change in the course of Who-History, but the size and capacity of the old green guy’s heart.

Princess Kay of the Milky Way

Synopsis: It’s 1980 and Minnesota dairy farmers are struggling. The Berglund family is no exception. Middle daughter Sadie Jane prepares to compete in the annual Princess Kay of the Milky Way competition, hoping to keep the family legacy of Dairy Princesses strong. Eldest son Emmett Dean aspires to be a singer-songwriter comparable to Johnny Cash, and youngest daughter Eugenia Marie has her sights set on the stars — the actual Milky Way. When a mysterious intergalactic visitor crash-lands in the Berglunds’ barn just days before they travel to the Great Minnesota Get Together (also known as the Minnesota State Fair), the siblings must work together to get their new companion back home without alerting their preoccupied parents or fellow fair-goers.

Synopsis: Dewey Finn is a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?
