GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY Comes to Boulder Theatre
by BWW News Desk - April 11, 2017
Ghostland Observatory's entire approach to music - sonically, aesthetically, conceptually - is essentially a melding of the two distinctly different personalities of its two members, Thomas Ross Turner and Aaron Behrens. Whereas Turner, the producer/drummer/keyboardist of the duo, finds solace in the minimal, bleak cable-patch squawks of Karlheinz Stockhausen and the analog-disco-thump of Giorgio Moroder, Behrens' interests lie more along the lines of psychedelia, rock and various country and blues artists.
TEEBS FREE THE ROBOTS, & LeFtO Comes to Fox Theatre
by BWW News Desk - April 11, 2017
A producer, a painter, and a key member of Brainfeeder clan, recent years have seen Teebs surge toward the top of the so-called "beat scene", and though his affiliation with Flying Lotus certainly has something to do with his ascent, it's ultimately the music - a billowing brand of beautifully off-kilter, hip-hop-colored beat construction - that has set Mandowa apart from what has become an increasingly crowded field of like-mind producers.
ONE FLEW WEST + MY BODY SINGS ELECTRIC Comes to Fox Theatre
by BWW News Desk - April 11, 2017
Formed in the Summer of 2010 in the small town of Longmont, Colorado, ONE FLEW WEST has grown from a high school garage band into a full-scale rock machine storming up and down the front range. Now based in Denver, the four-piece has made a lasting mark on the local music scene and look to make that mark on the national scene in the near future. Uniquely combining rock and roll with various aspects of folk, pop and punk rock, there are few bands out there that sound like One Flew West making it difficult to fill in the cliche definition of, "They sound like so-and-so". The band has been recognized by numerous Colorado-based radio stations and publications as a soon-to-break-out artist.

CIRCLES AROUND THE SUN Comes to Boulder Theater
by BWW News Desk - April 05, 2017
Few albums have the creation myth of Interludes For The Dead by Neal Casal's Circles Around The Sun. The 10 instrumental jams that encompass the release were commissioned by Justin Kreutzmann, the filmmaker son of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann, to accompany the biographical visuals he was compiling to be shown during set break at the 'Fare Thee Well' concerts the living members of the Dead played in the summer of 2015.

Feeling lost in the shadows of marriage and post-WWI society, two unhappy London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a ladies-only holiday away, reluctantly recruiting a pair of difficult upper-class women to share the cost and the experience.  There, among the wisteria blossoms and Mediterranean sunshine, the four women clash-and then begin to bond and bloom-rediscovering themselves in ways that they-and we-could never have expected.

Denver's Most Popular Swing Band Returns for 20-Year Reunion Show
by BWW News Desk - April 04, 2017
Made from members of Denver's underground cocktail set in 1996, Money Plays 8 emerged from The Kit Kat Club at Herb's Hideout to provide the Mile High City its first taste of the driving backbeat, punchy horns, and bourbon-soaked stage show that signaled the beginning of a Swing Renaissance. Igniting audiences filled with fedoras, saddle shoes and upended skirts, Money Plays 8burned brightly if too briefly alongside fellow scene-makers Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Royal Crown Revue, and Cherry Poppin' Daddies; sharing the stages of Denver's Bluebird and Ogden Theatres, The Boulder Theater, 9th Avenue West, and The Derby in Hollywood (as seen in the 1996 movie Swingers).

'Kevin [Haskins] and I get along really well, like a house on fire, we're really different personalities, which is why it probably works,' says Daniel Ash about long-running bandmate of numerous bands in the last three decades. Daniel and Kevin have formed the new band POPTONE which embraces all aspects of their careers - from the legendary Bauhaus, timeless band Tones on Tail and chart-topping alt-rockers Love and Rockets.  Joined by Haskins' daughter Diva Dompe, Poptone has already announced two now-sold-out Los Angeles concerts with more dates to be announced.
BWW Review: STAGE KISS at Equinox Theater
by Samantha Saunders - April 04, 2017
Stage Kiss, by Sarah Ruhl, is a comedy that takes the play within a play concept and shows how two actors with a past are cast as leading man and woman in a lost 1930's play and how they too begin to mesh the lines between offstage and onstage.
BWW Review: JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR at Arvada Center
by Chris Arneson - April 04, 2017
I've spent a couple decades successfully avoiding Jesus Christ Superstar. I generally don't like religion, and Andrew Lloyd Webber isn't my favorite composer. However, after attending the Arvada Center's current production, I'm a bit more of a believer…in the show, at least.
