Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps opening at Milford Riverfront Theater Milford ,Delaware – A fast moving physical comedy spoof by Patrick Barlow, adapted from the 1915 novel byJohn Buchan and based on the movie by Alfred Hitchcock opening on January 27 at Milford, Delaware's Riverfront Theater.
Director Tommye Staley has come out of retirement to choreograph the Second Street Players in thier first production of the 2018 theater season. Show dates are January 26-27-28 and February 2-3-4 with Friday and Saturday curtain times of 7:00pm and Saturday matinees at 2:00 pm.
The story begins with Canadian Richard Hannay, a visitor to 1930s London, becoming unsuspectingly involved with a glamorous mysterious woman while attending the theater. This chance meeting leads him into a series of uproarious adventures involving trains, planes and automobiles, hiking across moors, eluding the police, using false identities and confronting villains as he tries to unravel the mystery of The 39 Steps.
Actors playing multiple characters, quick scene changes and mixed Hitchcock references will keep the audience spellbound.
The cast includes veteran Second Street Players José Bernard, Carol Torrey, John Moller, Phil Staley, Lezlie Eustis and Tom Trietly supported by Glenn Outten and the Harbeson women, Mary, Naomi and Emily.
Stage Manager Art Paul is assisted by Rosemary Paul and Beverly Henderson. Assistant Director is Mike Amory.
Second Street Players is a year round community theater producing shows that cover nearly every genre including musicals, dramas, comedies, original works, our Childrens Theater and cooperative productions with other cultural groups and schools.
Riverfront Theater is located at 2 South Walnut Street on the south bank of the Mispillion River in scenic downtown Milford, Delaware.
The theater is handicapped accessible and can accommodate the hearing impaired. All tickets for the Main Stage shows are researved seats and are priced at $17 for straight plays and $20 for musicals. A $1 discount is offered to Senior Citizens (65 and over) and students (18 and under) for Sunday Matinees Only.
