The Academy of Dance Arts is a long-established studio in Rapid City, South Dakota, serving more than 250 families across Western South Dakota and Eastern Wyoming from two locations: 4251 Canyon Lake Drive, which houses its youngest dancers, and a newer downtown gallery studio at 230 Main Street with 12-foot ceilings and a sprung and floating marley floor. The school traces its history back more than 60 years through owners Helen Griffiths and Kay Schneider, founder of Black Hills Dance Theatre, to Julie A. McFarland, who bought it in 2000 and added Arts to the name; the ownership team expanded again in 2021.
