City Ballet

City Ballet of San Diego is a professional ballet company presenting a full season of performances alongside education and community programs devoted to advancing ballet in San Diego. Its 2026/27 season includes Balanchine's Serenade, an American Icons program at the Balboa Theater, The Nutcracker, a world premiere of West Side Story and Swan Lake at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, plus a Family Ballet Series with Ballet Under the Stars and Snow White. The affiliated City Ballet School of San Diego was established in 1992 by ballet artists Steven and Elizabeth Wistrich and teaches the essence of several classical styles to build versatility. Students are carefully evaluated and placed by level, with flexibility, strength and stamina built gradually to prevent injury, and instructors are hired for their professional performing backgrounds. The school takes students from age 4 through adults, running children's and pre-professional programs, adult classes, school performances, summer dance camps, pre-professional and adult summer intensives, a master teacher series and a Diversity in Dance scholarship program.
