Edudance, Classrooms In Motion

Edudance, Classrooms In Motion brings ballroom dance into San Diego-area schools rather than teaching from a studio. Founded in 2004 by Anne Krantz, a mother and ballroom dancer, and now run by Owner/Director Laura Bueno, who has more than 25 years of dancing and teaching experience including 15 with Edudance, the program runs 6, 8, 10 or 12-week residencies for elementary and middle school pupils from 4th through 8th grade. Weekly 45-minute sessions cover California state standards for music, dance and physical education, and use partner dancing to teach self-esteem, confidence, poise, etiquette, respect, teamwork and social awareness. Instructors are trained in the syllabus and must pass district and county background screening and medical checks. Each course ends in a dress-up showcase for families. Districts served include San Diego Unified, Cajon Valley Union, La Mesa-Spring Valley, National City, South Bay, Alpine and Mountain Empire, and the program states it is inclusive of all gender identities and religious observations.
