The Asheville Ballet, directed by Ann Dunn, is North Carolina's oldest non-profit regional ballet company, with a history of teaching and performance spanning more than 60 years; it began as the Fletcher School of Dance and dates its company work to 1963. It is based at 4 Weaverville Highway in Asheville, where its official school, the Asheville Academy of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, teaches ballet, modern dance, pointe, creative ballet, conditioning and Pilates at all levels for students of every age, with fall classes and drop-ins available.
