About this studio
Angkor Dance Troupe is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Cambodian performing arts organization in Lowell, Massachusetts, founded in 1986 as an act of cultural survival following the Khmer Rouge genocide and the need to preserve Cambodia's classical and folk performing arts. Now marking 40 years, it is a youth-centred organization that uses Khmer dance, music and storytelling to build confidence, cultural pride and belonging among young Cambodian Americans, and it reports having educated more than 7,000 students in Khmer classical and folk dance and music and given over 400 public performances in the US and abroad. Programs run out of the Patrick J. Mogan Cultural Center at Lowell National Historical Park and Western Ave Studios.
