The name Arthur Murray is synonymous with “ballroom dance instructor” -- the famed dancer began teaching in New York at the Grand Palace in 1912. A decade later, he packaged his tried-and-true method of teaching dance and opened his first dance school. Steve Platt of Lake Forest, California, who owns multiple Arthur Murray Dance Studios, rallied several other Arthur Murray Dance Studios throughout California and Arizona to hold Throwback Thursday, a virtual competition.
Businesses such as the Arthur Murray Dance Studios have had to close to prevent the spread of the virus but continue to spread the joy of dance.
Whether it is two people gliding together in romance or moving in sync to the beat, dance is a universal language.
