Costa Mesa Playhouse Hosts THAT WAS THEN…THIS IS NOW!

To celebrate its upcoming 46th season, Costa Mesa Playhouse invites theatergoers to take a musical journey through the best of Broadway hits from the 1940s to present day with The Playhouse's That Was Then...This Is Now! annual musical fundraiser August 5 - 7, 2011.

Directed by Jason Holland with Musical Direction by Stephen Hulsey, That Was Then...This Is Now! is a musical revue presented by a cast of 28 sensational singers that highlights a variety of landmark scores and songs that have inspired audiences for almost 70 years.

Performances will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 5 & 6, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, August 7 at 2 p.m. General admission tickets for Friday and Sunday are $20 each. Tickets for the VIP Gala on Saturday, August 6 are $23 each and include a champagne and appetizer reception as well as a silent auction. Reservations can be made by calling 949-650-5269 or by visiting CostaMesaPlayhouse.org.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards replacing equipment that was stolen in a recent break-in at the theatre, and will help cover the costs of installing new carpeting and seats. Donations for the silent auction (such as gift certificates, artwork, theater tickets, etc.) are welcome and can be made by calling 949-650-5269.

ABOUT THE COSTA MESA PLAYHOUSE
The Costa Mesa Playhouse is a 73-seat, not-for-profit theater that has been serving the Orange County community for more than 40 years. The Playhouse is dedicated to presenting affordable, quality, live theater in a comfortable and intimate setting, and to offering actors, singers, dancers, and stage craftspeople a welcoming environment in which to practIce Their craft. The Playhouse offers a diverse five-play season that runs from August through June and includes notable musicals, comedies and dramas. Located on the campus of Rea School, the Costa Mesa Playhouse receives no monetary support from the city or school district. All revenues come from ticket sales, subscriptions, and the generous donations of patrons, and are directed back into the productions at The Playhouse and toward general operating costs.
