Know Theatre Presents THE EYES OF OEDIPUS 4/28-5/15

Know Theatre of Cincinnati is pleased to announce a special off-night production of The Eyes of Oedipus, a new adaptation of Oedipus Rex. Know Theatre company member, Alison Vodnoy has created a new adaptation of the classic Greek tale and Darnell Benjamin will be playing Oedipus. Eric Vosmeier, Managing Artistic Director of Know Theatre, will direct the piece. The Eyes of Oedipus will open on Know Theatre's stage on off-nights April 28 and playthrough May 15, 2010.

Over-the-Rhine Hosts GO OTR 5K Run/Walk & Summer Celebration, 5/22

Cincinnati's most historic and diverse neighborhood, Over-the-Rhine, is hosting the Go OTR 5K run/walk and an all day festival, OTR/Gateway Quarter Summer Celebration, on May 22nd. The GO/OTR 5K race begins at 10 am; as part of the Celebration, artist booths and the garage sale will open at 10 am as well. The Celebration ends at 7 pm and includes a wide range of musical acts will perform throughout the day. It all begins at the corner of 12th and Vine streets in Over-the-Rhine.

The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will hold auditions on Saturday, July 10 and Sunday, July 11 for children interested in performing in the 2010 production of Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, presented by KeyBank. The show, an annual Tristate holiday tradition, celebrates its 20th year this season with performances running December 2 to 30.

Know Theatre of Cincinnati is pleased to announce its fourth and fifth production of the season, Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, written by Tony Kushner. Angels in America opens with the first of the two part play, Angels in America: Millennium Approaches, on Know Theatre's mainstage through May 8, 2010. The second half of the production, Angels in America: Perestroika, will open April 23 and play through May 8, 2010.

Cincinnati Young People's Theatre has announced audition dates for its 2010 summer musical, Les Miserables. Auditions will take place May 8th-10th at Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, 4990 Glenway Avenue. Auditions are by appointment only and can be set up as early as Monday, March 15, 2010. Due to the extension of Know Theatre's production of Angels in America, The Eyes of Oedipus dates have been adjusted. Opening night will be May 5 at 7pm. Performances continue May 9 at 2pm & 7pm and May 16 at 2pm & 7pm.

The Know Theatre delivers part two of the epic Angels in America as well as they delivered part one. The first half, Millennium Approaches (which will be playing concurrently through the run of the second part) focuses on the lead up of the arrival of a mysterious angel. The second part, Perestroika, becomes more subject-heavy and intense as the story unfolds once the angel has arrived.
