The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival Kicks Off With THE COMEDY OF ERRORS 6/4

If you enjoyed one set of twins in last season's hit production of Twelfth Night, then double your pleasure this summer with The Comedy of Errors. Not one, but two sets of estranged twins find themselves unwittingly wandering through the streets of the same town, where the men are jealous, the women are furious and there's a priceless gold chain that everyone wants.

Join us outdoors at The Green Uptown June 4-20 as we celebrate our 5th anniversary season. Bring a picnic and a blanket or chair and enjoy some great comedy under the stars. And don't forget to stop by the ATM or bring your checkbook. We'll be collecting donations and need your support more than ever. A minimum donation of $5 per person is encouraged.

Many of your favorite performers from past seasons are back along with some talented newcomers. Joe Copley, director of last season's Twelfth Night, returns to the director's chair to orchestrate the zany action in this classic tale of mistaken identity.

Performances take place June 4-20 on Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sundays at 6:30pm. Pre-show performances begin 45 minutes prior to show time.

Sundays are Family Days at The Green

Sundays are Family Days at The Green with a special earlier curtain time of 6:30pm. Come early and join us for a free Shakespeare performance workshop at 5pm. All ages are welcome, but reading skills are required. Participants will gain a greater understanding of the play and Shakespeare's language through fun and interactive theatre games. No experience or reservations are necessary.

Think you know Shakespeare? Join us on Wednesday, June 9 and 16 at 7:15pm to find out. Shakespeare Trivia nights are back with great prizes including theatre tickets and restaurant gift certificates. And this year, it's twice the fun... local improv comedians The Chuckleheads are hosting Shakespeare Trivia. They'll keep you laughing with their interactive improvisational comedy while you try to answer our trivia questions.

In celebration of our 5th anniversary, we're launching a new pre-show entertainment series called Festivities featuring a variety of local performers. Come early to grab a good seat and let these talented artists entertain you before the show. It's a great way to introduce yourself to a performer you may not have seen before. We've got a great line up of musicians, storytellers, improv comedians, clowns, poets and other performers. Festivities start 45 minutes prior to each performance of The Comedy of Errors.
