PRiMA Theatre to Welcome Rolling Rock Band, 5/2

U2 did it in New York City. The Rolling Stones as well. It's Lancaster's turn. Creating a fresh energy and spectacle on the First Friday of May, PRiMA Theatre announces the Rolling Rock Band! This live experience celebrates PRiMA's May production, 80's Re-Lived! theatrical music experience at the Chameleon Club. That show plays May 18 & 25 at 3 and 7pm each day.

One hundred of Lancaster's most impassioned TEDx enthusiasts will come together on Saturday, May 3rd for a day of networking and dialogue around the theme Break New Ground. The event will take place at The Ware Center on 42 North Prince Street Lancaster and will feature an incredible line-up of speakers on topics ranging from innovations in education to health to technology and the arts. Attendees will also have an opportunity to network at an on-site lunch event. Also, the event will be live broadcast at Millersville University at the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center for free. The independently produced event, operated under a license from TED, was organized by Laura Kendall, Harvey Owen and a committee of community volunteers and is aimed at creating dialogue as well as giving people a forum to share their passions, ideas and experiences.

Penguin Project At Gettysburg Community Theatre to Present PETER PAN, 5/9

The Gettysburg Community Theatre will present Disney's Peter Pan as their 2014 Penguin Project production, a cast of youth with disabilities and their peer mentors without disabilities paired together from day one of rehearsal all the way to the final performance. The Gettysburg Area School District is partnering with GCT on The Penguin Project this year and Founding Executive/Artistic Director of GCT, Chad-Alan Carr, says 'These children inspire each of us to be better people. Parents, staff and I are in tears at every rehearsal at the incredible progress that these students show each week. We can not wait to premiere this project to the community.'

The open poetry session will be at the Ware Center, 42 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA today, April 4th between 6 - 9 p.m. Jon Sands, Write Bloody poet from NYC, will be presenting a reading of his works. Sands is a recipient of the 2009 NYC-LouderARTS fellowship grant and has represented New York City multiple times at the National Poetry Slam and tours extensively, both nationally and internationally.

They face three different ways of dealing with the same challenge: How can I communicate? ?¡¿QUIEN TE ENTIENDE?! is a bilingual (Mexican Sign Language and spoken Spanish,) narrative theatre, based upon the actual testimonies of three deaf inhabitants of Mexico City and is also accessible to English speaking audiences. Winner of a Tony Award for Best Play, the Olivier Award, the Evening Standard Award, and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this cutting-edge, wickedly funny satire digs into the heart of race and real estate in the suburbs of Chicago. Inspired by historical events, the play begins in 1959 when a white couple sells their home to the neighborhood's first black family, and thus sparks controversy. Fifty years later, the house is again changing hands, this time to a young white couple moving into the now black community.
