Toronto Fashion Week Announces New Partnerships & Events For SS2019

Toronto Fashion Week®, in collaboration with RESET™, returns for a third season, Sept. 4-6. In addition to designer shows, Toronto Fashion Week will see returning programs such as Fashion Talks™ and new events to this season's schedule, including the launch of The Endings - a photography book by award-winning celebrity photographer Caitlin Cronenberg and production designer Jessica Ennis, and Best Dressed 2018 presented by Toronto Life and FASHION.

Each day kicks off with a live taping of the Fashion Talks™ podcast, produced in partnership with CAFA™. Host Donna Bishop (also the fashion columnist for CBC radioHere and Now), returns and will chat with some of the most recognizable faces in fashion, film, beauty and photography to share their stories in an intimate studio setting.

The opening night party of Toronto Fashion Week will serve as the launch of the highly-anticipated photography book: The Endings: Photographic Stories Of Love, Loss, Heartbreak, And Beginning Again by Caitlin Cronenberg and Jessica Ennis. The book features some of the most talented and relevant actresses of our time, including Julianne Moore, Imogen Poots, Mena Suvari, Alison Pill, Keira Knightley, Nina Dobrev, Tatiana Maslany, Malin Åkerman and more, in the throes of emotional transformation. The launch party will see various activations as imagined by Cronenberg and Ennis, encouraging guests to recreate some of the stories found within the book.

"Toronto Fashion Week has been such an important happening for the city and has been a part of my life for so many years. The way the event supports local talent and works hard to build up and back the fashion and arts scene in Toronto is admirable and we felt it was a perfect place to launch The Endings," states Cronenberg. "Jessica and I are both Toronto-born and this city plays a huge part in this project. We love that we can share this for the first time with our hometown and with an amazing community of artists."

Also returning to the Toronto Fashion Week programming is the RESET™ Designer Showroom, an engaging, consumer-facing retail experience located in the luxe shopping district of Yorkville. Both the public and guests of the event will have the opportunity to once again meet and shop directly from designers throughout the duration of Toronto Fashion Week.

New to this season's program and in partnership with the Canadian Alliance of Film and Television Costume Arts and Design (CAFTCAD) comes a rare opportunity to visit a display of original costumes and artifacts from notable film and television productions created by members of CAFTCAD. From Concept to Creation: An Exhibition of Canadian Costume Art and Design will reflect the creativity, imagination and meticulous research and technical skills of the country's costume community. Each item on display represents the costume designer's vision as well as every member of the costume team that contributed to the manifestation of that vision. The exhibit is taking place in Yorkville Village and will launch on Sept. 4.

Closing out the eventful program, Toronto Fashion Week is proud to announce a partnership with Toronto Life and FASHION to host the ever-popular Best Dressedevent. What started as a celebration of the singularly stylish people of Toronto - artists, chefs, designers, entrepreneurs, executives, fashion insiders and families - has turned into one of the biggest events of the year. Best Dressed will launch Stylebook 2018 along with the ninth-annual list of Toronto's Best Dressed. Hosted as the closing event for Toronto Fashion Week, Best Dressed will welcome an elite list of celebrities, media personalities, socialites, fashion insiders, film and music executives and more.

"In coming together with other fashion related initiatives and highlighting how deeply intrinsic fashion is in today's culture, we have curated programming that truly defines the vision of Toronto Fashion Week," says Gregory Menzies, Executive Vice President, and Project Lead - Yorkville Village, First Capital Realty Inc. and Toronto Fashion Week Executive Committee Member. "This season, attendees can expect a calendar of interesting and dynamic programs which will create a memorable event that celebrates Canadian talent across various disciplines, including art, food, photography and film."
