Disney Junior Orders Second Season of FANCY NANCY Ahead of the Series Premiere

Disney Junior has ordered a second season of "Fancy Nancy" ahead of its series debut, FRIDAY, JULY 13 (11:00 A.M. EDT/PDT), on Disney Junior, DisneyNOW and Disney Junior VOD. Based on the New York Times bestselling book series by Jane O'Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser, the animated family comedy centers around six-year-old Nancy, a high-spirited young girl whose zest and enthusiasm for all that is exquisite - including language, nature, art and color - transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. The announcement was made today by Nancy Kanter, executive vice president, Content and Creative Strategy, Disney Channels Worldwide and general manager, Disney Junior Worldwide.

Kanter said, "A creator and true optimist, Nancy is a relatable, imperfect character who exemplifies the problem-solving power of imagination through the comical situations she gets herself into. We look forward to the series' premiere and sharing even more heartfelt stories that showcase Nancy's creative endeavors and her unwavering belief that she can accomplish her grand ideas while encouraging those around her to do the same."

Joining the previously announced lead voice cast - Alyson Hannigan and Rob Riggle as Nancy's parents, Claire and Doug; Mia Sinclair Jenness as Nancy and Spencer Moss as sister JoJo - the recurring guest voice cast for season one includes Tony Award®-winner Christine Baranski as Mrs. Devine; George Wendt ("Cheers") as Grandpa Clancy; Kal Penn ("Designated Survivor") as Mr. Singh; Dana Heath ("WellieWishers") as Nancy's best friend Bree; Tatyana Ali ("The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air") as Bree's mom, Mrs. James; Ian Chen ("Fresh Off the Boat") as Nancy's cousin Jonathan; Chi McBride ("Hawaii Five-0") as mailman Gus; Malachi Barton ("Stuck in the Middle") as Nancy's friend Lionel and Madison Pettis ("The Fosters") as Brigitte.

Excited to experience what the magnificent world has to offer, Nancy uses ingenuity and resourcefulness to exemplify that even if life doesn't always go as planned, it's important to make the most of each day and encourage others to do the same. Geared towards kids ages 2-7, each episode is comprised of two 11-minute humorous and heartfelt stories that showcase themes of self-expression, originality and love of family. Music also plays an important role in the series, with almost every episode featuring new original songs showcasing a variety of musical styles ranging from pop and jazz to big band, classical and swing.

Line extensions for the series will include multiple storybook and early reader book titles from Disney Press. Dolls, role-play items, accessories and apparel will be available this summer at Disney store and shopDisney.com, with other items also available at retailers nationwide. A soundtrack from Walt Disney Records featuring 14 new original songs will be available on all streaming and digital platforms beginning tomorrow, Friday, June 8.

"Fancy Nancy" is executive produced and directed by Emmy® Award-nominated Jamie Mitchell (Disney Junior's "Sofia the First") and developed and story edited by Krista Tucker (Disney Junior's "Sheriff Callie's Wild West"). Matthew Tishler serves as songwriter ("Austin & Ally," "Teen Beach 2") and TJ Hill is composer ("Planes: Fire and Rescue"). The series is a production of Disney Television Animation.
