The lively young duo known as The Ries Brothers are gearing up to self-release their first full-length offering, The View From The Outside, due out November 10th, 2017. This youthful and dynamic literal band of brothers are geared up to make a major splash upon release, already making an impression on and opening for legendary artists like CHICAGO (for two tours), Butch Trucks (Allman Brothers), REO Speedwagon, Daughtry, and funk gods Sly's The Family Stone. The band's mix of rock, blues, funk, and reggae is on full display throughout the album's 13 contemporary tracks.
Made up of brothers Charlie (22) on lead vocals, drums and keyboard and are sometimes played all at once, and
Kevin Jordan (18), on guitar, backing vocals and co-songwriter, the latter of which is still wrapping up high school,
The Ries Brothers prove that age is just a number with their prodigious musical chops.
The View From The Outside's album title alludes to a relatable perspective that has become a hot button issue of overwhelming loneliness and isolation. The songs resonate on a profoundly personal level that reminds us all that these universal issues don't discriminate, and that even the seemingly gifted struggle with their sense of self belonging. The album serves as a call to comfort, assuring the listener they aren't alone in these feelings.
The majority of studio work took place in St. Petersburg, FL under the careful supervision of genre-bending veteran Ted Bowne of Passafire, who additionally assumes a guest appearance on "No Place I'd Rather Be," a peaceful track that serves as a happy retreat and the album's first single, due out October 13th. The exception of the album comes in the form of the track "Street Lights," which was recorded in Los
Angeles and produced by GRAMMY winning writers and producers The Jackie Boyz. The tracks featured in the album are a culmination of the brother's past five years of songwriting. Sonic garnish came from the studio help of Kenny Bongos (percussion) of SOJA, Allon Sams (keys), and Kyle Schroeder (sax).

From the bluesy rock opening of "It's Never Me," followed by the heavy dose of melodic synth lines in "Closer to You," to the mainstream pop structure and production of "Street Lights", and the reggae rock skank of "No Place I'd Rather Be" (lead single dropping Oct. 13), down the sultry jazz-influenced "Neon Signs",
The Ries Brothers show more proficiency across genre lines within the album's first few songs than some musicians are able to capture in a lifetime. Title track, "The View From The Outside" instantly captures a somber tonality before diving head first into personal vulnerability. Capping the album off is "Road Map," a reflection of growth through the tumultuous pressure teens encounter on their journey into adulthood that ends with an uplifting guitar solo.
Honing their sound and songwriting on stage, the band first started playing local stages in their hometown of Tampa, FL about 5 years ago and have since performed an outstanding 500 shows. Late last year the brothers completed their first headlining tour, highlighted by a performance at "The House that
Les Paul Built," the legendary
Iridium in NYC. The Huffington Post said of the performance, "The insanely talented duo played the
Iridium in Manhattan...with special guest Vini "Mad Dog" Lopez, founding member of the E Street Band and member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. When the concert was over they left the crowd begging for more." And recently the brothers performed a mind blowing show at
Arlene's Grocery and the
Iridium in NYC, where the band was joined by special guests
Byron Isaacs (touring Bassist of the Lumineers) and
Vini "Mad Dog" Lopez (founder of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band); the show was filmed and will be released in the near future.
