Simon & Garfunkel Tribute Comes to Spencer, 4/14 The sounds of silence seem to be drowning out what really matters in this day and age, making the universal lyrics of Simon and Garfunkel more relevant than ever. Hailing from Stourbridge, England, Dan Haynes and Pete Richards are the members of Bookends, perhaps the finest Simon and Garfunkel Tribute band in the world. At Spencer Theater the duo comes together with their string quartet on Saturday, April 14 at 7 p.m. ($39-$59) to sing the songs that speak to the times as importantly as they did 50 years ago.

Friends since childhood, Dan and Pete were young musicians bonded through a shared love for the music of Simon and Garfunkel. When they reached adulthood, both men decided to keep the spirit of Simon and Garfunkel alive. Originally called the Sounds of Silence, they broke up in 2008 after having a falling out. However, in 2011, the pair met again by chance at a Paul Simon concert, where they realized their true calling and reconnected, as band mates as well as friends. Changing their name to Bookends, the pair believe they are better than ever; people agree.

The pair has received tremendous acclaim in their home country with BBC Radio WM calling their performance "a masterpiece." Over the years, Bookends have been able to fine-tune their vocals to the point that they now sing in perfect harmony, just like Simon and Garfunkel.
