Chrysta Bell Announces New Album
Chrysta Bell, longtime musical partner of David Lynch, will release her sophomore album We Dissolve with Mercury Prize-winning producer John Parish - a longtime PJ Harvey collaborator - on June 9. Recorded in Bristol, UK, We Dissolve is a pop record with elements of soul, rock and jazz that features contributions from guest artists including Adrian Utley (Portishead), keyboardist Geoff Downes (Asia, Yes) and drone metal guitarist Stephen O'Malley of Sunn O))). Stream "Devil Inside Me" via YouTube. Pre-order We Dissolve via PledgeMusic.
David Lynch wrote and produced Chrysta Bell's 11-song debut, This Train, released in 2011 as well as her acclaimed 2016 EP, Somewhere in the Nowhere. Evocative of Lynch's film and television productions, both retro-tinged releases feature dark and airy musical soundscapes conjuring a dramatic atmosphere that allow Chrysta Bell's sensual vocals and soulful melodies to take flight. The closing moments of his surreal epic Inland Empire featured the duo's song "Polish Poem," a classically Lynchian ballad.
Of the chanteuse, David Lynch says Chrysta Bell "is not only a killer performer, she also has a great intuitive ability to catch a mood and find a melody that's really spectacular" and recalls, "The first time I saw her perform, I thought she was like an alien. The most beautiful alien ever." Chrysta Bell will be featured in Twin Peaks, set to premiere on SHOWTIME on May 21. She was recently featured in Showtime's trailer offering the first glimpse of the new and returning cast.
Chrysta Bell's professional career as musician began after being signed by RCA Victor at the age of 18 as the lead vocalist for the popular Austin, Texas - based gypsy swing act, 8 ½ Souvenirs. In her four- year tenure with the band, Chrysta Bell delighted audiences on many North American tours and shared the stage with legendary musicians such as Willie Nelson and Brian Setzer.
