Review: IKINARI STEAK from Japan for a Great New Steak Experience

Now with three New York City locations, Ikinari Steak is continuing to delight their guests with steak dinners in a casual and approachable setting. The Japan-based restaurant chain is owned by chef and restaurateur Kunio Ichinose. It's a spot where you can enjoy fine steaks, cut and cooked to your specific order along with savory sides. We stopped by for dinner at the newest location on 46th Street in the Times Square neighborhood.

The concept is inventive. Ikinari Steak serves very thick, high quality meats quickly and economically. It is fun, interactive, communal, and a great experience. First order side dishes and drinks from your server. Sides include soup, rice, salads, and their signature Garlic Pepper Rice. There's a nice variety of beverages like wine, beer, saki, and soft drinks. Then just step up to the counter and order your steak that is hand cut and cooked to your exact liking. It's a great system. Your entire meal will be graciously brought to you with your steak sizzling.

All steaks are "fresh-aged" or "wet-aged" for 40 days tenderizing the meat to maintain its moisture. Cuts include Top Ribeye, Middle Ribeye, MyRibeye, Sirloin, Filet, and Wild Steak. They are served with kernel corn and onions but you can also add additional items like broccoli or potatoes. Each steak is priced by weight. Ikinari sets the minimum order of ounces to keep the thickness so you will have the best possible steak experience. Customize your meal with garnishes like Garlic Paste, Mustard, Wasabi and Ikinari's special J-Steak Sauce.

Ikinari Steak has guest program called the "Niku Mileage Card." This is a membership card that allows diners to keep track of how much steak they eat and earn special rewards.

You'll totally enjoy the meal experience at Ikinari Steak. They are open for lunch and dinner making them an ideal destination for pre or post theatre dining.
